Welcome to the home page of the Irish Expats Golden Oldies Rugby Club. We are based in Perth, Western Australia and as you guessed it our team comprises mostly of players who are Irish or Expats. As well as Irish and Australians we also have a smattering of Poms (England), Kiwi's (NZ), Welsh, Scots and South Africans. We're VERY social and welcome new players, if your over 35 and would like to know more about joining, please click here.
Our home base is the Irish Club in Subiaco and we 'train' and have a loose association with Wests-Subiaco, Rugby Union Club who are based in Shenton Park, Perth. However, most of our players are ex-Curtin University RUFC and we have very strong links with the Curtin teams.
During the rugby season we play at a different carnival around Perth approximately every two weeks and we train on a Thursday night at West's ground at Rosalie Park. During the summer we play social touch rugby also at Rosalie.
We meet socially through the year on a Friday night at the Irish Club in Subiaco and every month tend to have a dinner, outing or social event including an annual cricket day, golf day, annual dinner, Christmas dinner, AGM etc.
We tour at least once per year, usually a weekend down in the Margaret River region (SW of Perth) where we play a local Golden Oldies team. We regularly attend the Golden Oldies International Rugby Festivals and will be playing in Wellington in Oct/Nov 2006 after a pre-tour of New Zealand's South Island.
